Sound Transit has and
continues to extract billions from the Puget Sound region. What do
taxpayers receive for their contribution? History shows, much less than what
was promised. The next phase of work, East Link, will not only cost
billions, the resulting increase in regional capacity will be minimal (if at all).
Worse yet, the train will eliminate the center roadways on the I-90
floating bridge, roads that carry 10s of thousands per day.
Sound Transit is beginning
the process to go back to the tax payers for yet more money in ST3 while
the promises of the first two rounds remain incomplete. It is time to
stop this train before it derails this region. We need real, rational
transportation solutions that will increase capacity and reduce travel
times. Future plans need to be compatible with the rapid development of ultra-high efficiency autonomous cars, buses and trucks.
This blog was created as a way
to collect and disseminate information related to Sound Transit and
related transportation projects of the Puget Sound Region and to highlight deficiencies in these efforts. Hopefully
this information will lead to more informed electorate and who will
demand better solutions and greater accountability for our regional transportation systems.
